Week notes #13
Welcome to the first week notes of March! I have a lot to update on so strap in...
First of all-
Gabriele has now updated the engineering guide with super interesting info on face panels subjected to wind. Read more here: https://www.wikihouse.cc/guides/engineering#external-faces
tldr; the face panels in your WikiHouse won't be stripped away by wind!
And today we’ve finished a big Github upload (thanks Clayton!) too...
✅ We have updated wall system blocks including fixing dimension error on notch for COMBs on all WALLs, CORNERs, DOORs and WINDOWs blocks.
✅ NEW WALL-G blocks have been added for gable roof end walls (currently in the Design Kit but will appear in the block library soon). Gable end WINDOWs also coming soon.
✅ Bow-tie and peg models and cutting files now added to Github, Design Kit, and will appear in website library later today.
✅ The Design Kit has now been updated with both simple and detailed models.
✅ NEW Example chassis models showing how blocks can be assembled now available as part of simple and detailed Design Kits.
✅ We have also back-saved library model files to Sketchup 2017 and Rhino 6 (for those using legacy software)
and COMING SOON: Blender model versions of design kit coming - watch this space!
As always, thanks for all your feedback so far, I hope you find all the Github updates above helpful and do shout if there are any issues. And just in case you are using Firefox, we are aware that images in the guides are not displaying properly at the moment. We are not sure why but they are visible in other browsers.
And finally-
Our Skylark community event is happening in just under 2 weeks: Thursday 17 March 2022 at 16.00 UTC. We are recording it, so if you are in a different time zone we will have the recording live for you by the time you wake up the next day! We are keen to experiment with different times, so we will be happy to have the next event in a totally different time zone....on that note, if you haven’t already, please let me know what topics you are interested in for future sessions.
And just because we love plywood- this is a very satisfying video to watch. My favourite part is the “glue curtain”. Enjoy!
ps. There has been some Swift chat this week so there is now a #swiftnl channel for those interested.
[These weeknotes started in late 2021 in the lead up to the release of WikiHouse Skylark, as a weekly update for our WikiHouse Slack community. Follow the link to find out more about the community and how to join.]
