Week notes #17
Hello and welcome to our first April update for you...We have been busy this week with a few exciting projects...
Firstly, as mentioned last week we are going to be hosting an event in June at London Festival of Architecture together with our friends at Hawkins Brown. If you haven't heard of them before you can read about how they have used WikiHouse at The Gantry studios in London: https://www.hawkinsbrown.com/projects/the-gantry-at-here-east We are excited to host this event together and it will be open to all. Once we have a confirmed date from LFA I will let you know all the details, we would love to see you there.
Second, if all goes to plan, we will be building a WikiHouse in England by the end of the month! We weren't expecting it to happen THIS quickly but it’s all falling into place for our very first residential structure using Skylark, a garage with an upper floor studio / office. And all being well, we will be able to share footage from the build with you all at our next community event on the 28th April. I also know that Gabriele is going to take this chance to measure how the floor deals with vibrations by using accelerometers while we jump around in specific locations, so that the energy distribution induced by the jumps can be mapped. I am going to get him to write a bit more about that for next week!
Finally, loving this photo of students at the Baanderherencollege in Boxtel insulating a WikiHouse classroom with insulation materials made from old jeans!
