Week notes #18
It’s been a mixed week for the team with a some people on holiday and some (Jason) working all hours of the day… Jason is our projects designer and with our first build happening in under 3 weeks it’s been non stop for him! However, our first set of cutting files have now been prepared and sent off, and we are delighted to have been able to keep it local: The client’s site is located in the Peak District and the blocks are being cut by Chop Shop in Sheffield, less than 20 miles away. Our aim has always been to keep the manufacturing of blocks as local as possible and it’s brilliant to see this happening. You can follow the blocks’ journey here.
On engineering news, Gabriele updated the guide this week with design tables for beams type S, M and L. Check them out under the FLOOR blocks section. He has also been busy assembling some home-made accelerometers for testing the vibration performance of the floor blocks in a few weeks’ time - this is going to give us a deeper understanding of the system in real conditions and we will let you know the results once the data has been analysed. Oh and if you didn't know what a home-made accelerometer looks like, now you know.
Events-wise, shall we have a community call on the 28th? This was Amber’s suggestion and given there’s so many people already designing and building prototypes, it sounds like there’s lots we could talk about. DM me if you’re interested in talking about what you’ve been working on so far. Maybe we could experiment with a morning (UTC) time and see how that works? 8 or 9am?
