Week notes #22
Here are a few updates from the team this week…
Hackathon coming to London
First of all, the WikiHouse Hackathon eventbrite link is now live! 8 June in Stratford (London). All details and sign up here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/lfa-wikihouse-hackathon-tickets-327981570707 - it would be great to see those who can make it.
Research update
Research-wise, on Wednesday we carried out a vibration testing on the Skylark floor. That consisted on installing accelerometers all over the floor, and jumping/walking in specific locations. The main aim is to understand how much beams are working together in transferring the load across the floor. We are now processing the data and looking forward to giving you an update in the next few weeks.
We are also organising further testing this summer (June/July) at Strathclyde University here in Scotland.
WikiHouse in Ukraine
For the last couple of months we have been working with architects in Ukraine and Poland to design housing that can accommodate people displaced by the war. Some pretty cool work going on in the Lviv region by our friends at Dodomu, who we are supporting with Skylark designs. You can follow their journey here: https://www.instagram.com/dodomu.org.ua/
Next community event
And finally, a community event- lessons from our first Skylark build. The next community event will be about last week’s build and everything we learnt. Plus we will update you on some improvements we are working on as a result. Wednesday 1 June 8.30am (BST), I will create event link and post it here next week.
Ps. If you haven’t watched it already we finally stitched all the time lapses from last week. Watch it with volume up!
