Week notes #26
Almere Architecture Prize winners
In case you haven’t heard: Our WikiHouseNL friends won the Architecture Prize of Almere Audience Award! A big thank you to everyone for your votes :-) We are a bit biased but we think Almere is such a cool place - and we couldn’t have put it better than Ivar here: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6944953501999390720/ (You can see the English translation under the original post).
Good vibrations
We also have some vibration news! I am just going to cut and paste this message from Gabriele, our Engineering Lead, as he has explained it really well…
“We are currently finishing to process the vibration data measured on the recently built WikiHouse Skylark floor. At the moment we can see that that the natural frequencies of the floor are above 15 Hz, which suggest that the floor is unlikely to be brought to resonance (people tend to walk between 1 and 2 Hz). Furthermore, beams are working together rather than independently, which makes the floor stiffer. We will now compare the peak accelerations with the limits in the standard, keep you updated!”
Testing
On testing news - well you can see from the photo below. Testing of Skylark connections at the University of Strathclyde has now started and we look forward to letting you know what we learn.
And finally, a podcast from Alastair - this time it’s about the work we do at Open Systems Lab, so if you are interested in learning about what we do beyond WikiHouse (and why), this one is for you! You can also check out his Medium page here.
