Update on testing at the University of Strathclyde
Testing at the University of Strathclyde is currently going at full speed. To recap, following our first build with the Skylark system back in April, we found some improvements could be made to the connectors we use. We are currently testing these connector options at Strathclyde University. If you are interested in finding more about what we have learnt so far, you can watch us explain it here.
Among other things, we are testing the possibility to use a bow tie connection between walls and beams as an alternative to pegs and combs (see picture below). We have been going through the data, but it seems such connection might 1) perform better from a structural point of view while also being 2) easier to install and 3) being cheaper because it uses less wood. More details and precise numbers coming very soon.
And finally…check this out
No, we didn’t know either but this WikiHouse just popped up in Mongolia. Isn’t it beautiful? We also just got the architect’s details so will be getting in touch with them to find out more!
