Week notes #87
Can you build extensions with WikiHouse?
Yes you can. See how and hear Ellie May’s story here:
First Call joins our supplier network
Earlier this we welcomed the team at First Call as our latest WikiHouse supplier in England. They let us into their factory in Northampton to show us where the magic happens…
100 Factories
After 2 years, our 100 Factories project came to an end this spring. We have been working with Maahee's, University of Plymouth and Woodlab to create the digital infrastructure needed by SMEs and community groups to create networks of small-scale factories for low-carbon housing construction. Check out the 100 Factories website to learn more and see the demonstrator we built in Devon as part of the project ⬇️
Polytunnel extension
We have also been to Birmingham to help our friends at Civic Square. 3 years ago when we launched Skylark, the blocks we manufactured for our launch event (using the very first version of the system) went on to be stored in Birmingham with the plan to reuse them one day. The day finally arrived at the end of May when Amber helped the team assemble them into an extension for their polytunnel. Fire testing 🔥
And finally, the results of our fire tests are finally published and can be found in our research library. WikiHouse Skylark 250 walls achieved fire rating REI 90 and floors/roofs achieved REI60.
