Week notes #88
Skylark v1.0 is here
We’re excited to share that Skylark v1.0 is now live and can be found on the WikiHouse Github. This version is thinner (150mm) and initially focuses on single storey structures like cabins. We plan to expand the range of blocks to also include 200mm blocks - find out about our roadmap and plans.
New home in GitHub
As part of our recent website update, we have moved all our block files over to GitHub, where you’ll also be able to find our previous version 0.2.2.
The WikiHouse ADU has landed in NYC 🗽
We are excited that the WikiHouse ADU is now part of New York City’s ADU for You platform, an initiative by the NYC Mayor’s Office to help homeowners turn extra space into small homes.
We collaborated with Situ on the design, which is now included in the city’s pre-approved library. This means homeowners in New York can access it directly. Please contact SITU for more information.
Spotlight: Affordable homes in Iowa, USA 🏠
The Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine in Iowa is delivering six affordable homes using WikiHouse, in partnership with local manufacturer Pearl City Wood Products. The WikiHouse team has developed three chassis designs for the project, optimised for mass production and local fabrication with Pearl City Wood cutting and assembling the components in-house.
The homes are being sold to first-time buyers at or below 80% of area median income, with each buyer eligible for up to $16,000 in homebuyer assistance. All six homes are due for completion by summer 2026. A brilliant example of WikiHouse doing exactly what it’s designed to do. Follow their progress on Instagram.
New projects page
As part of our latest website update, our projects page got an upgrade. We’ve added the latest projects featuring builds from the UK, USA and beyond: the same system, adapted to very different briefs. Check it out.
We’ve also updated our partners page and welcomed some new faces, including our first partners in Germany and Hungary. 🇩🇪 🇭🇺 See the list here.
